AI agents

Explore controlled AI email workflows with scoped permissions, untrusted-message boundaries, human review, narrow labels, and practical evaluation examples.

An email agent combines a task with permission to interact with a mailbox or another tool. Plan those permissions independently from the text of the messages it reads. A message can be relevant evidence without being authorized to change the agent’s job.

The agent safety and LLM triage articles approach this from two directions: authority and output quality. Read both before connecting a model to a consequential action. Draft a small set of permitted outcomes, define what must be reviewed by a person, and keep a record of the evidence behind each proposal. Then test ordinary, ambiguous, and instruction-like messages to see whether the workflow stays inside the boundary you intended.
